Moments of fame

The Happy Rock has posted the 149th Carnival of Personal Finance, wherein appears Funny’s squib on hiring your own craftsmen to inspect a house before purchasing. Frank’s theme is “Chasing Dreams.” Accordingly, one of his Editor’s Picks is Amy Clark’s joyful report, at MomAdvice, that she and her husband have conquered $13,000 worth of debt and found their dream.

This week’s carnival has a lot of creative ideas. Check out The Financial Blogger’s series of posts on creating alternative sources of income-the link is to part 7. And speaking of series, Ginger at Girls Just Wanna Have Funds is starting a series titled “Beat the Rat Race,” to discuss ways to work from home. Be That Way has a nice post on how she uses a set of bank accounts to manage her finances. Squawkfox has a great commonsensical piece on the stuff women carry in their purses (and one thing men carry in their wallets)…and shouldn’t.

Can I Get Rich on a Salary has posted the 56th Carnival of Money Stories and has included Funny’s tale of the Great De-Wallpapering Adventure. This carnival contains a link to an absolutely awesome story and rumination by Baglady, who compares income and the quality of life as she remembers it in her childhood in China, in Hawaii, and in San Francisco; the addition of a comment by her mom, who sacrificed a great deal to shield her children from the realities of poverty, adds real poignancy.

Rich himself, BTW, presents this carnival within the context of a story of his own. Be sure to visit!
