LOL! It doesn't do any good to get ornery with the poor troglodytes who answer the phones. They're just wage slaves working in a truly miserable job, and the truth is there's not a darned thing they can do about their employer's policies. Sometimes they lie so as to crank a commission to supplement their puny salaries (videlicet, "Josh"); other times, as in the case of "Brad," they misunderstand or are contradicted after the fact by someone else in the food chain; still other times, they lie to put you off or get you out of your hair (bringing us to "Amber").

Thanks to both of you for the good words on Cox. SDXB says that out in Sun City he's heard plenty of complaints about inconsistent connections and Qwest-like customer service, so by this morning I was feeling pretty discouraged. On the other hand, if you google reviews of Cox telephone and Qwest telephone, you find LOTS fewer complaints about Cox than you do about Qworst.

I gave up on Qwest in Phoenix years ago due to extraordinarily poor service. I've bundled phone with internet through Cox with very good results.

... nope, still speechless ... I am really amazed you stayed civil.

That said, I used Cox for my two year tenure in AZ and was amazed at the customer service. The techs were nice and, best of all, the person you talk to on the phone is usually empowered to actually take action. Plus they have a nice tech support number where the first thing you hear was whether or not they already have a reported outage for your area (saved a lot of time). Totally unsolicited, they also sent a refund to my forwarding address for a few weeks I had paid for but not used. Returning to Charter back here in the midwest resulted in a similar "never, ever again" declaration. I get service through my apartment complex now, thank goodness.
