My house had increased in value at about 6% a year, which is normal in this part of the country. It wasn't until about five years ago that values started to run amok...which would put the bubble smack in the middle of the Shrub Administration. I think the misunderestimate remark was actually deliberate, a joke, but the silence was deafening from the press corps. His remarks about the recession were lies -- as I recall the economy was doing just fine, with no deficet and a huge budget surplus, when he came into office. Slightly recessed perhaps, with a big housing bubble to worry about, so that surplus would have come in handy as a stimulus, or to address the inevitable foreclosure crisis proactively instead...we got the idiot and now, we are totally f**ked. Thank all that is good that the grownups are coming back to DC in a week. I was appalled by the press conference.
