LOL! The Copyeditor’s Desk brings in more than the 12% GDU is docking from my pay with the furloughs. Usually the after-tax portion of that income goes into savings. Some of it may have to be used to support me. Maybe not, though…the pay cut is not enough to bankrupt me, and I figure it’s better to adjust to the smaller income. If a miracle happens and the furlough’s don’t morph into a permanent pay cut (as everyone believes they will), then when our work schedule returns to normal I’ll have an extra 12% of my income to put into savings.

An interesting plan, and one that appears to alleviate some of the issues associated with furlough. I think it’s time to take advantage of the fact that you can make a little extra money on the side!
