@ Mrs. Accountability: The east end of the line is a long way from your part of the Valley. But it one day you have nothing else to do (LOL!), an inexpensive way to entertain yourself and family is to drive into Mesa, park near the terminus, buy day passes for everyone, and ride all the way up to the other end of the line and back. You’ll find a number of entertainments along the way, such as the science museum downtown, the Heard Museum, the greyhound park, and the baseball stadium.

Also, if the young man enjoys the zoo, I THINK there’s a shuttle from the stop at Washington and Priest to the zoo and the DBG–but you’d need to call to confirm…I’ve never seen one standing there.

LOL!! Congratulations and I’m glad the light rail is working out for you! I remember commenting to one of your posts some time ago saying you could save money by using public transportation and I’m glad to see light rail is an option! I haven’t had a chance to ride it yet, it goes nowhere near where I work nor where I’m going so I haven’t taken the time. I actually miss the option to take the bus or have someone else drive. I was able to when I was younger and lived in Phoenix, and I could crochet or read and get other things done. I’m really glad the light rail will work for you.

Cool! A light rail system. I’m jealous! 30 years of living with no kind of public transportation of any sort makes me year for a little metro travel!

Cheaper, greener, and stress-reducing. Wow! Sort of OT, but my best day in Italy several years ago involved buying a bus ticket and riding to the end of the line, which was up in the mountains. We got out at every nice looking town and had gelato or coffee or something.

Hey, I told you it worked pretty well when you last wrote about the train. I am glad you got to experience it. It is fun and you can read instead of drive to campus. Haven’t driven the car to work except once since the light rail went into operation. Saves loads on gas and even more on stress to say nothing of the high cost of parking on campus. And…there is a Los Dos Molino’s right on the rail at Washington.
