This is going to be the Flattened Corgi Edition. Early this morning I took Cassie to walk the valley trail between Shaw Butte and North Mountain, part of a large desert preserve, and just about frazzled the poor li’l thing. Fortunately we took plenty of water, enough to soak her head and ears as well as to drink. The City of Phoenix covers the trails with loose scree, apparently as erosion control; whatever that does for erosion, it sure turns the trails into ankle-twisters. For a little dog, each of those millions of rocks must look like a small boulder. And then there’s the detail that one of my strides equals about a half-dozen steps for her little legs. At any rate, after I carried her past a construction site (dam renovation) and drenched her noggin a few times, she managed to stagger out.
None the worse for wear, I might add: part of the motivation was to run her so she’d quit pestering me with the ball for a few hours, but just this moment she’s throwing it at me again!
