@ Revanche and SimplyForties: Many pages at the GDU website are not up-to-date — some are a year or more old. The state government overall is in chaos, because the wacko right-wing legislators are so determined to reject the needed tax increases and to refuse to borrow money. Thousands of workers have been laid off, with the result that there simply are not enough employees left to provide ordinary government services. Institutional memory is being thrown in the dumpster along with the canned employees; so, in many cases few workers know the answer to people’s questions and the rest are too demoralized to care.

The blame for this mess does not go to the state employees. It fits squarely on the shoulders of the leadership, and in Arizona that leadership — the one presently demonstrating its incompetence — is doctrinaire Republican. This is a party that needs to wrest power from the crazed right-wing, and they need to do it before the whole damn country collapses around us. Where’s Barry Goldwater when we need him?

What A Headache. I’ve been browsing our website for the past few hours and all the information is strangely … available! Not only do they have an entire section detailing policies on layoffs and reorgs, they have a section with forms, wherein a full page of COBRA rates are clearly detailed.

I think I would implode if I were facing all of that nonsense too.
