Moments of Fame

The Money Hacks Carnival is online at Man Vs. Debt, who is preparing to decamp to Australia. This edition has some amazing stuff…I had to send College and Finance’s Ten Economic and Business Pro Tips from World of Warcraft to M’hijito, a WoW aficionado. Think Your Way to Wealth contemplates the pro’s and cons of cash-only spending, an interesting rumination. Monitor Bank Rates.com explains the difference between APR and APY, something I’ve always wondered about. Funny’s squib about punting with the TV antenna appears in this week’s line-up.

Frugal for Life hosts the Festival of Frugality, which included Funny’s report on the wide disparity in bids for the same job with the same materials. A few days ago I spotted Green Change’s amazing story about converting his chest freezer to a fridge, which made FoF’s editor’s picks–you’ve gotta see this! And I found this post at Budgets are Sexy extremely interesting: J. Money talks about the costs of subscribing to some of the major religions.

Over at Simply Forties, the the Carnival of Money Stories sports a wedding theme, with some very charming photos. Northern Chesapeake is feeling guilty for not having sprung for a $200 doggy tooth-cleaning before the dog lost some teeth, to the tune of even more cash. Free Money Finance has a customer-service horror story from Etrade, a good reason not to do business there. Funny’s piece on the upcoming COBRA hassle appears in this carnival, speaking of unresponsive phone reps.

Stephanie has posted this week’s Make It from Scratch Carnival at the eponymous site. I’ve heard you could make jam in a bread machine; Marsha explains how to make banana jam at Bread Machine Diva. If you’ve never had fresh mozzarella, you should check out the recipe for making it at Howling Duck Ranch. And glorioski! Jim at Bargaineering shares tips on making pork and shrimp dumplings. At Gotta Little Space to fill, Mama Bear shows off a pretty tile necklace she made, and also wonders if there’s a better way to attach a hemp cord to the clasp. Funny’s panzanella recipe joins this week’s MIfS Carnival.

And that’s it for this week’s moments of fame. :-)
