Moments of Fame

It’s been a while since Funny contributed anything to a carnival: I’ve just been too busy to cope with even that small extra task. Fortunately, MSN Smart Spending kindly burnishes FaM’s fame by republishing an occasional post. Most recently Let Us Count Our Blessings appeared at that august site.

Carnivals have many uses, not the least of which of course is providing a little exposure for bloggers. IMHO the best thing about blog carnivals is that they bring a lot of generally related stories together in one place. Some of these are very interesting articles. From a reader’s point of view, they introduce you to new writers and new perspectives. Every time I participate in a carnival, I find many writers whose work I really enjoy. Here are a few from this week…

Carnival of Money Stories at The Financial Blogger: editor’s pick (!!) for Would You Buy a House Near a WalMart. Some of my favorites:

The Debt Shoebox, Mrs. Money at The Ultimate Money Blog
Results of the $100 Scratch-off Lottery Project, at Budgets Are Sexy
It Doesn’t Hurt to Ask, at My Wealth Builder

Carnival of Personal Finance at A Gai Shan Life: Median Income, Median Savings

There’s Always an Excuse Not to Give, Baker at Man vs. Debt
Fun Weekend, Early Retirement the Middle Way
What Money Smells Do You Need to Work On? Mighty Bargain Hunter

The Festival of Frugality at Out of Debt Again: Budget: Positive News

Seven Ways to Stay Warm in a Cold House, Not Spending Money
Homemade Dumpling Wrapper Skins, Bargaineering (glorioski!)
For Black Friday and Beyond: Print Ad Susceptibility, Wisdom from Wenchypoo’s Mental Wastebasket
