Moments of Fame

Though it’s been a quiet week here at the Funny Farm, FaM did pretty well in the Carnival and Festival department:

Second place at the Best of Money Carnival, hosted at Scordo.com! The blue ribbon went to Bumhood: The Fruits of Financial Freedom. Because of this carnival’s built-in selectivity, all ten of its choices are highly readable. Here a few I especially enjoyed:

Lazy Man and Money: Top Ten Sneakiest Business Tricks. My favorite is the mail-in rebate.
Mike Hunt, guest writing at Free Money Finance: Contrarian Thoughts on Charity and Giving. Roger that!
JD at Get Rich Slowly: It’s More Important to Be Happy than to Be Rich. Wraps up a 14-part series.

And Editor’s Choice at the Carnival of Personal Finance, hosted by The Financial Blogger.com! This one was for Happy New Year! What Are Your Goals? This carnival is always offers great riches from PF writers. Check out:

Helen at Science and Money: Required Minimum Distributions vs. Roth. Very interesting!
Miss Thrifty: Invisible Hand Will Slash £££ from Your Shopping. If you use Firefox as your browser, this is worth knowing about.
Mighty Bargain Hunter: Your Calling Doesn’t Necessarily Fund Your Retirement by Itself. Well said!

And Funny also made the Festival of Frugality: Eliminate the Muda, with When DIY Doesn’t Save Much. There’s some very yeasty stuff here:

Free Money Finance, Even I have My Limits. Amazing Walmart story leads to lively comments
The Smarter Wallet: Healthy Breakfast Idea: Rethinking Oatmeal. Hey! Bread has yeast…
Out of Debt Again: My Grandma Was Truly Frugal. Life was different in the good old days.
