I have been with my credit union for over 12 years now. No complaints. I love credit unions. Best way to finance a car also

@ frugalscholar: Darn! It’s too bad they can’t get it right.

My CU has made only one mistake (that I’ve caught them in): they deposited someone else’s $10,000 to my checking account.

Naturally, I was quite pleased with this…but ultimately was nagged by the Muse of Ethical Neurosis to report it.

At the moment, the credit union near me is paying !% on savings, better than local banks. However, we have had many, many instances of incompetence with credit unions. It took the CU a zillion tries to get my daughter her debit card–they lost several applications, other documents that we faxed and re-faxed. When she stopped in to pick it up, they had no record of anything….on and on.

And my son had something similar. i will spare you the details…

Still, their business model is better.
