Thanks for the idea, it may solves some of the problems that you mention at the same time it looks good with touch of art.

I love your idea of putting the smaller stones between the flagstone. This is a very attractive look, and solves a number of the problems you mentioned. Not to mention that it is inexpensive and permanent!

Chickweed! Is THAT what that stuff is? Well...it'll soon be right back. :-)

It's very sticky--it has a tenacious resin that gets all over your hands and resists washing off. Before I learned to put on gloves before touching it, it took successive applications of olive oil (didn't work), nail polish remover (didn't work), baking powder paste used as a scrub (sorta worked), and finally Barkeeper's Helper (took the stuff off along with a layer of skin). Not very appetizing!

I like that you're working with what you've got (burr clover), but I understand about hideous weeds. I live in the Northeast, and when we bought our home in June, the front lawn was full of tall, milky-stemmed plants that were near impossible to pull out. I did two weeding sessions: one to pull out ALL of the weeds (which left me just with dirt on one side of the lawn), then another session a month later to pull up all the NEW weeds that I'd awakened and had grown. I hate using anything like weed killer, but in this case, I had to do an application. Then I put down grass seed and got some semblance of a lawn. I'm really looking forward to putting in some flowering plants in the spring!

Oh no, you tore out all of your chickweed. You could have had salad instead or during, or both!
