Moments of Fame

Budgeting in the Fun Stuff hosted this week’s Carnival of Money Stories. She kindly included Funny’s recent report on the insurance company’s response to the hail damage—as an editor’s pick! Thanks, BitFS!

Quite a few interesting stories here. I especially enjoyed these:

A nice rumination on generosity from CashMoneyLife, something we might think about in this Christmas season, which surely will be a bare one for many Americans.

An amazing story from Aloysa’s Kitchen Sink about starting life in a new country and, joining exuberantly into the cultural zeitgeist by running up a phenomenal debt.

A step-by-step roadmap to blogging profitability, from InternetIncomeFormula.com.

Update!

The Festival of Frugality went online a little late at Penniless Parenting, whose lively proprietor also selected one of Funny’s posts, Amazon Prime: Worth the Cost?, as a favorite! My! Having both your week’s carnival submissions hit the gong certainly does wonders for the ego. Check out some of the excellent competition:

Over at The Digerati Life, SVB offers Ten Cheap Ways to Get a Great Gift. Some of them are nice stocking-stuffers, some are really thoughtful.

PT Money’s guest contributor Timothy Ng has posted a very interesting article on the best used and new cars under $25,000. Not only does he address the purchase price of these chariots, he also discusses the cost of operating the things. If you’re considering a car purchase in the next few months, it’s a post worth bookmarking.

And Wenchypoo takes a not-very-promising topic and turns it into an amazingly interesting piece: an extended discussion of refrigerators and ways people use them and save power on their use.
