This week the Carnival of Personal Finance appeared at Walletblog, whose proprietor kindly included Funny’s reflection on the sources of Bag Lady Syndrome. As usual, this is a large and wide-ranging carnival. Be sure to check it out! Here are a few that I found interesting…
Ben at Money Smart Life: Payroll Tax Cut 2011 on what the tax cut will mean not just for you and for your future retirement benefits but also what it will do to your company’s accounting department.
Jeff Rose: 400,000 Miles? No Problem. How Driving a Tank Can Make You a Millionaire. And here I thought the Dog Chariot was getting old at a mere 100,000 miles! At this rate, she’s got another 30 years in her!
Donna Freedman writing at Get Rich Slowly: Beyond Tupperware: Frugal Food Storage. I’ll second that! And now I no longer feel guilty about all those jars and cleaned-up plastic containers hiding in the garage cabinets.
At CashMoneyLife, Ryan Guina hosts the vast Festival of Frugality despite finding himself in the middle of moving house—he and his wife having succeeded in selling. He kindly includes Funny’s Three Reasons to Keep the Land Line. Here, too, is a carnival to whose offerings are often entertaining and interesting. These posts caught my eye:
Roshawn Watson at Watson, Inc.: Toyota Millionaires vs. Mercedes Millionaires generates a lot of commentary.
Guest blogger Selena, writing at The Digerati Life: Frugal Health and Beauty Tips: Look Good & Save $800 A Year. This piece offers three good ways to save on maintenance, one of them kind of surprising.
Vered Deleeuw, writing at Money Ning: Winter On a Budget was especially entertaining, as Vered thinks 68 degrees is pretty chilly. It’s 61 in my house at 4:30 in the morning as I huddle in front of a space heater to write this… I won’t turn on the central heating until I’m ready to get out of bed, a spot to which I intend to repair as soon as I finish writing this. When it does go on, the thermostat is set at 63. Several great pointers here, though, for saving money on winter expenses.
And this morning MSN Smart Spending posted Funny’s post on keeping the land line, which appeared conveniently as the buzz about Verizon’s iPhone rises toward a crescendo.

Thanks for participating in the carnival and sharing it with your readers!
Note: I think 74 degrees is pretty chilly. *Bona fide wimp!*
