When we were honeymooning, I made a conscious effort not to check any electronics beyond checking for time, checking for vacation-related information like eateries, texting people to arrange things to do. No Twitter even though I’m on there for any and all my social interacting most days of the week. For a week.
And it was … lovely. Weird but good. I think it’s a great idea to deliberately make yourself take a break for at least a week. I’ll even transcribe for you if you like. 🙂
Mwa ha! Wanna grade some stoont papers?
Haha, sure, give me a rubric.
Heh heh…it would probably give you anxiety attacks. Then we could write a scientific paper demonstrating that anxiety disorder is contagious.
I love this! I would miss reading your blog but it sounds like a great idea. Just be sure to come back and let us know how you are doing after your week off please!
Funny…so sorry to hear you’re having trouble. Those anxiety attacks are nothing to take lightly. I had something very similiar many years ago when DW was expecting our first child….I was running a small business requiring 80+ hours a week…was drinking plenty of coffee and Coke (lots of caffeine) and of course was smoking Marlboros. I fell ill and thought I was having a stroke. After much testing, neurologist diagnosed me with “anxiety attacks complicated by classical migraines”. Got off the caffeine…cigarettes….and learned to cope better with the stress. I will go along with “Dr. Kildare” , vigorous exercise works wonders…whether it be weed-pulling…room painting or a brisk walk ….behind a lawn mower. Wish you nothing but the best in your recovery…
Migraines are something we could probably live the rest of our lives without, too. Thing is, the caffeine helps them a little, so you’re working at cross-purposes, ’cause it sure does aggravate the anxiety symptoms.
I love this idea. How often do we get to get to exercize our minds by reading cursive ? Hope you feel better. We all need a little change.
