I just left a retail job, having worked there about 14 months. Macy’s doesn’t want to pay for staff? I’m shocked! Shocked! I swear, I don’t know how people work retail jobs for years or decades and survive. Most retailers don’t pay sh@t and don’t treat their employees very well, either. No wonder there’s so much employee theft. I do NOT condone it, but I do understand it.
It’s easy to get the picture of why Costco employees like working there, isn’t it?
Where are you finding reported the closings are driven by staffing costs? I didn’t see it in the linked Boston Globe article or anything I’ve read at other outlets.
Hm. I don’t have the piece I saw that in while cruising around. It said they were closing stores because they needed to lay off a lot of people.
