So, on top of all the other hassles and headaches — the purloined car, the black widow bite, the screwed-up yard lights, the cops-and-robbers frolic, the peripheral neuropathy — now the dog’s water bowl has disappeared.

- No, it’s not on any of the backroom storage shelves.
- No, it’s not in any of the closets.
- No, it’s not outside…
- No, it’s not in the dishwasher
Can you imagine? Stealing a dog bowl?
This is why I don’t employ a lot of indoor hired help.
Y’know, if some guy makes off with a sprinkler, it’s easy to replace and fairly cheap.
But a water bowl for a 90-pound dog?
Yeah.
To replace that bowl will cost me something between ten and thirty dollars. Cheaper ones can be had, of course: Amazon has a number of them.
But that’s not really the point.
The point is…some bi*ch is paid by my son to come into my home and care for me in what may very well be my final illness… And what does she do? Why, of course! She steals from me.
What IS the matter with people?
Did you discuss this with your son on the long drive to and from Mayo? Perhaps cameras (they are now cheap and easy) would help.
I haven’t dragged this issue out into the sunlight yet…there’s a limit to how much ditz one can handle! Shortly, though, I will have to discuss this with him. And really, I need to look into the agencies that provide this kind of hired help — maybe talk about this issue with someone there — to see if we can find a route to better helpers.
One problem with that matter, though, is that I can’t PROVE the woman stole Ruby’s bowl. Remember: I’m supposedly non compos, and so…well, o’course I must have put it away in some weird place and can’t remember doing so. Right?
Seriously: this “condition” puts me over the barrel. Anything that I might complain about can be turned around and made to look like my lunacy.
That’s why I suggested cameras. They would back you up, and show her actively destroying your property. Turning off the water for the plants is vicious.
