A cool 112 degrees here in So. Cal. It’s ghastly, isn’t it? I got a couple of errands done by 9:30 a.m. Luckily we’re retired and don’t have to leave home for very much. It’s getting in the &^%$ car that is a killer. Last night the interior of husband’s car was 140 degrees when we got in. That was at 5 p.m.
But cheer up, basically only about six more weeks of this horror and things start to cool. 😀
It’s been freaking humid here, too.
I don’t even want to KNOW the temp inside a car at this time of year. Mercifully, the ancient Toyota has one of the super-duper air-conditioners that once-superb company used to equip its vehicles with. LOL! Another good reason not to trade the thing in.
MAN…117….Have you been affected by the drought and the water “rationing”. I just read an article about Cali …. and it seems these guys are getting REAL serious with water usage to be 50 gallons per person and BIG fines if you go over…
Well, remember: our extreme right-wing legislators do not believe in global climate change. Nor are most of them aware that the Colorado River Compact was predicated on precipitation & runoff statistics gathered from a historically atypical period, and that in fact the precip we’ve been experiencing lately is what has been “normal” for the region over eons. They’re convinced the drought is temporary and will go away. So, no: they have not demanded water conservation measures. That would be bad for business.
And the Central Arizona Project, whose leaders indeed are aware of the facts and (unlike our elected representatives) are not fools, have been quietly pumping water into underground reservoirs. CAP has stored enough water to keep the Phoenix area going for about ten years after we run out of surface water.
Which, we might note, we’re about to do. 😉
But don’t say that too loud. It’s bad for business.
